Huawei has had massive success as a business and continues to explore other opportunities within technology and communications. What Is A Smart City?
A smart city is a collection of Internet of Things (IoT) sensors that connect different programs and components that are tied to the function of a city. Many of the technological programs and systems that help operate the city, talk to one another and help ensure safety, efficiency, adequate communication, and improve all aspects of life for the people living there. Smart cities are incredibly complex and require a massive amount of information sharing to operate properly. The interest in smart cities is growing rapidly as the world’s population is shifting with more and more people living in urbanized areas. It is projected that about sixty percent of the population will be living in urban areas by 2050.
Huawei Smart Cities
Huawei has now launched its smart city framework in over 160 cities worldwide. This effort includes 40 different countries that have adopted Huawei’s smart city plan. Huawei has undergone and completed three stages of smart city development that has positioned them where they are today. The current fourth stage of development for its smart city leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) and includes the improvement of management systems through ‘AI-enabled data mining’. Huawei has partnered with Tianjin Binhai New Area to further evolve its technology and expand its AI capabilities for even more efficient smart cities.
